The torture of a long runner: records declaration

Since more than 20 years users struggle with the same nasty problem.

Medina

Why is it so hard?
... Bruce Miller gives a nice intro in a video of MER:

people are lazy and technology (automation) cannot help yet in a satisfactory way.
Are we ever able to solve this f... problem? It seems to be a vendor perspective and if users are not going to buy-in , organizations will never succeed (getting it right with metadata which really supports analytics and findability).

Paknad about information economics (IBM IOD interview)

Deidre Paknad, director of ILMG (IBM) and heading CGOC (www.cgoc.com) is explaining why we need strategies and programs to measure the value of information assets within an enterprise. If information is really considered as a corporate asset infrastructure and content must be allocated to value. It's not something unknowable but when risk and cost even exceed value firms should think about these assets and establish procedures to operationalize measurement and value creation.

Encouraging user engagement - ECM adoption

Steve Bailey is focusing on his preferred topic of user participation when adopting ECM or EDRM Systems.

As we all know a lot of battles have been lost and user adoption for declaring and filing records within an organisation is still poor or has completely failed. Training is one of the most underestimated part in this story.

As part of his role at JISC infoNet he has been increasingly engaged with participatory techniques and stringing these together to run participatory workshops. I guess it's important because automation cannot master everything everywhere.

Liasing with French peers to promote records mgmt and information governance - CR2PA

Again it seems that we have the european semantic problem of the usage of professional terms in the different languages.
As archiving in the anglo-saxon world and also in German means just permanent retention, mostly for historical reasons (Sekundärzweck according to Schellenberg) there are other terms which came up as they are less compromised by corporate usage as the rather dusty notion of archives.
Digital preservation means a long-term storage under a legal decision (en) and in Germany the term "Langzeitspeicherung" has come as a german equivalent to "preservation" into the discussion and the community (see: eBook from Bearing point:

MIKE 2.0 - Methodology for an Integrated Knowledge Environment

A nice podcast on the OCDQ-blog of Jim Harris.
Method for an Integrated Knowledge Environment (MIKE2.0) is an open source delivery framework for Enterprise Information Management, which provides a comprehensive methodology that can be applied across a number of different projects within the Information Management space. For more information, click on this link: openmethodology.org/wiki/What_is_MIKE2.0

The framework is quite generic and not only for open source freaks.
It will be interesting to see how it evolves beside of Cobit5, GARP and other Information Governance frameworks. I do not like the fuzzy term "knowledge" in the label as it has been compromised too much by corp. practice (information is enough).
Knowledge cannot be managed, you can only facilitate it or enable the environment to foster its sharing.

Roundtable zum PROJECT CONSULT Records Management Fachtag 2012

Anlässlich des 6. Records Management Fachtages vom 27.
