The decade of (e-)Discovery - US video

The Decade of Discovery is a documentary of events that took place at The White House and in U.S. Courts (circa. 2002-2012). It's the story of a government attorney on a quest to find a better way to search White House e-mail and a teacher who took a stand for civil justice on the electronic frontier. Together, they sparked a revolution.

see Video: http://www.10thmountainfilms.com/

featuring Jason Baron (member of IGI thinktank and former head of litigation at NARA)

ARMA Europe conference June 2015 Brussels - call for papers extended

From Strategy to Implementation
It's the ARMA 2015 European Conference Call for Proposals

ARMA International's European Conference
at the Brussels Marriott Hotel
Brussels, Belgium
8-9 June 2015

Are you interested in speaking at the premiere conference for information governance professionals? If so, submit your great ideas by 4 February 2015.
Your work is important and worth sharing with your colleagues. Contribute your best, most creative session ideas to help attendees reach their full potential. The goal is to offer high-level content in an energetic and engaging environment. Maybe you have a “Work in Progress” that could revolutionise records management and information governance. Whatever your idea, we want to hear it! We’re looking for education for the multi-faceted information professional of the 21st century.
Our conference theme this year focuses on developing and deploying information governance strategies; as organisations embrace holistic information governance programmes, what captures board room support and how can you successfully demonstrate action against those strategic objectives over an extended period of time?
We’d like to hear case studies and welcome panel sessions debating the keys to success. Suggested session topics include:
- Articulating information value
- Achieving strategic advantage through information governance
- Information liability versus information asset
- Data protection as a driver
- Success with defensible information disposal
This high-level guidance on the themes and topics of interest to the conference attendees will help you to submit relevant education programme proposals; however, don’t think this is everything! Put your thinking caps on and let your gut be your guide. We encourage “out of the box” thinking and know that business and information management professionals have keen insight into session topics that will be of interest to their peers. Tell us what YOU think will be the hot button issue of 2015, or identify an area where more “how-to” focused education is needed by submitting your proposal today!

Digital Zurich 2025 - digitale Agenda

Information Governance issues: barriers & pitfalls

During November / December 2014 I gave two presentations (german & english) why Information governance is so hard to implement, why it does hardly work and why the top down only approach is no solution.

german: Records Mgmt Fachtag Frankfurt M. : 25. Nov. 2014
RMFT-20141125-ge (pdf, 2,053 KB)

english: ARMA annual conference of the Swiss Chapter 5. Dec. 2014
Preso-ARMA-CH-Dez-15 (pdf, 2,748 KB)

In the meantime AIIM has published its paper:
It's not information governance, it's information opportunity (...)

There you may find numerous arguments why IG is lurching from crisis to crisis in terms of implementation .
However the reproach that the records mgmt community has hijacked IG is purely semantics. ... part of the hidden struggle btw AIIM and ARMA. (?)

In theory Paul Strassmann has set the standards more than 10 years ago by the masterwork "Governance of information management. The concept of an information constitution" (out of print)
http://bit.ly/1zO86KO (Wayback machine)
or
http://www.infoeconomics.com/digital/show-ebook.php?id=3
(why is he not cited anymore?)
... this perception is almost ignored in the actual debates.
It's all about politics ...(and corp. culture)

Therefore the KRM is coming up with a new IG methodology (MATRIO ®) derived from the Matrioschka model where given structures may be built up from the bottom combined with a top down policy making step by step (shell by shell).

Information Governance Leitfaden 2015 / Subskription

Versandkosten
