Am 13. 9. hielt der VSA seine GV in Frauenfeld. Im Anschluss sprach Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer (project consult , Hamburg) zum Thema:
Elektronische Archivierung und elektron. Records Management. Herausforderungen, Konzepte, Rezepte

Wie gewohnt war die materialreiche Präsentation leidenschaftlich und fulminant vorgetragen, eine Performance sondergleichen mit viel Witz, Scharfsinn aber auch einer fast sarkastischen Note. Ich habe z.B. noch nie eine so trockene Materie wie Standards so spannend präsentiert bekommen.
Leider blieb nicht viel Zeit für die Diskussion, aber beim Apero konnte man noch dies und das diskutieren. Alles in allem ein Highlight!
Wir können nun wählen zwischen Ordnung & Chaos. Auch die Archivare müssen sich bewegen, auch wenn nicht alles so dramatisch wird wie dargestellt.

Based on my over 20 years experience in the information and content mgmt business my major concern and question with Conni is also: who really cares ? – imagine a company with > 10 b revenues and without any ECM system (sic !) just eliminates a small records center (2 associates!) at its headquarter (a service built up through years) . Or another case: a data warehouse burnt down in Switzerland some years ago and as a consequence the provider only lost one customer (most clients stated that the evidence they lost was not very important or just due to disposition). Or a big ECM campaign in Germany two years ago (ECM NOW!) just created some wind without any success. What is so hard about? Sure it’s the culture but every following point also has its impacts: information handling illiteracy, misunderstandings of notions and concepts (misnomers incl. the CIO); Technology domination; Insight deficits (analytics) under big data; strategic functions fail (Forrester); C-level perceptions and finally operationalizing info governance for business value (sound metrics), and information economics (why do information assets (intangibles) not appear in any balance sheet as the fourth production factor?). … hearing the echo -> we cannot measure it, so if you can’t bill it you can kill it. (tautology)
A lot of experts and specialists are desperately searching for arguments and reasons why user adoption of ECM fails etc. (thanks to J. Lappin and S. Bailey) the reality is different we know: How to successfully sell something that nobody wants.
Finally there is no royal way to solutions, just permament advice and suggestions and we have to imagine Sisyphos as a happy person.

In Deutschland ist der Beuth-Leitfaden zur Aktenführung erschienen. Irgendwann sollte der Begriff "Schriftgutverwaltung" verschwinden. In der deutschen Sprache wird dadurch unnötig der Aktenbegriff auf "schriftliche" Aufzeichnungen / Information reduziert ohne die neuen Medien (multimedia) einzubeziehen. Tönt zudem verstaubt und ungeeignet diese Funktion in der eigenen Organisation zu verkaufen.

• * "Schreiben im Sinne einer Aneinanderreihung von Buchstaben und anderen Schriftzeichen scheint kaum oder überhaupt keine Zukunft zu haben. Es gibt mittlerweile Codes, die besser Informationen übermitteln. Was bisher geschrieben wurde, kann besser auf Tonbänder, Platten, Filme, Videobänder, Disketten etc. übertragen werden. Und vieles, das bislang nicht geschrieben werden konnte, ist in diesen neuen Codes notierbar. Die derart codierten Informationen sind bequemer zu erzeugen, zu übertragen, zu empfangen und zu speichern als geschriebene Texte. Gilt dies auch für Blogger? es sieht so aus ... wir warten also bis sich die Hörblogs durchgesetzt haben (Youtube ist ja jetzt schon Nr. 1 wenn es um bewegte Bilder geht.)

Agenturen und Departemente wollen ihre Akten zunehmend nur noch elektronisch führen.
Die Süddeutsche Zeitung berichtete am 26.6.12 (Aus dem Staub), dass die BA noch in diesem Jahr in ihren 176 Agenturen und mehr als 400 weiteren Dienststellen die elektronische Akte einführt. Ein Grossprojekt. Es geht um 22.2. Mio Kundenakten. täglich kommen 260'000 Dokumente hinzu. Ueber den Provider ist nichts bekannt. Es könnte IBM sein.

Excellent post about the myth that storage is cheap.
... yeahh but storage is not archiving or digital preservation which enables to understand what we have stored once (often many years ago).

Again, it's the storage mgmt which is creating the costs but it's needed to ensure readability and understandability of the information which was stored.
