Die Abkürzung BAM steht für ein gemeinsames Internetangebot von Bibliotheken, Archiven und Museen in Deutschland. Das BAM-Portal bietet wissenschaftlichen Nutzern und der interessierten Öffentlichkeit einen direkten Zugang zu Bibliotheksgut, Archivalien, Museumsobjekten und zu Materialien aus allen anderen kulturgutbewahrenden Einrichtungen.

Ziel des BAM-Portals ist es, Kulturgut auf nationaler Ebene zentral zugänglich zu machen. Mit einem Suchvorgang können hier die Kataloge mehrerer regionaler Bibliotheksverbünde, die Online-Findmittel des Bundsarchivs und der staatlichen Archive aus mehreren Bundesländern, die Objektdatenbanken einer Vielzahl von Museen und Museumsverbünden sowie die Angebote anderer kulturgutbewahrender Einrichtungen durchsucht werden.

MS Sharepoint has been recently certified by DoD except the
classification management part. (Sharepoint is not able to manage
hierarchical classifications) This certification will expire in 2009.
What does this mean for employees who are at the frontline of RM?
Sharepoint will probably be implemented in most organizations to
manage records in some way. But it seems like using Notepad instead of
Word ... will that be beneficial for RM or increase some risks of e-
records mgmt?

The Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA) have announced that their
DAITSS [external] preservation repository application is now available under
the GPL license. DAITSS implements the preservation strategies of normalization
and forward migration for about 10 currently-supported formats, including JFIF
(JPEG), JEG2000, TIFF, WAVE, XML, Quicktime, AVI and PDF, and was designed
to conform closely to the OAIS reference model. DAITSS does not have a public
user interface but could be used as a preservation back end to other applications
such as institutional repository or digital library systems.
