Appraising e-mails as records (NARA)

NARA has provided a decision tree to decide whether an e-mail qualifies as a record or not. (2008)
One question which is still missing would be: Is there a legal obligation to retain an e-mail
under the local jurisdiction (e.g. tax related or accounting like in Germany) - .
Logically this criteria would be included under the condition of "evidential value".

Mit künstlicher Intelligenz gegen die Informationsflut / Artificial intelligence against the informaiton glut

A startup in Switzerland could evolve. Slot Consulting (M. Krause) has got the rights
to develop, use, and market Brainup, a business intelligence solution that is based on
semantic system’s ai-one™ technology.

Use cases in records mgmt are obvious:
What about >99% accuracy in automatic classification? Classification without user interaction?
Could that take the burden of tagging from users?

If you think of:
- How much time are you willing to spend forcing people to enter metadata vs. doing their job?
- Have you been able to get two or more people to agree on the same metadata for the same digital asset?
Forget about manual tagging

What about exact filtering records from non-records on legacy repositories (shared drives) based on defined sample data collections?
Sounds promising. Lets' see what the near future will bring.
