New standards package for records management (ISO 30300)

ISO TC46/SC11 is currently working on drafts for a new set of standards related to records management.
MSR = Management systems for records.

Despite of the fact that ISO-15489 has been a success it is open how pervasive this is going to be in the future by an extension of the framework.
If such standards are blown up in a way that they become unapplicable for organisations they will only block the enterprise. (same has happened to ISO 27001)

Moreq 2010 sollte bald erscheinen:

Allerdings wird laut U. Kampffmeyer weiterhin "individuell an den Lösungen geschraubt",wonach es schwierig wird mit dem Standard.
Sharepoint Records Center "schraubt" auch fröhlich mit und verbreitet z.T. ganz andere Sichten was denn RM sei.

In 2008, the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) established the Institutional Identifier (I2) Working Group to develop a robust, scalable, and interoperable standard to uniquely identify institutions and to describe relationships between entities within them. The charge is to develop a standard that includes a globally unique identifier string that is usable in the web environment, together with sufficient metadata to uniquely relate the institution to its identifier. The identifier that is developed must integrate smoothly with existing workflows and processes and enable future workflows within the information chain. The Working Group is also tasked with the implementation of the identifier, including identifying the host and technical needs, addressing legacy uses of institutional identifiers in the digital information space, and identifying complementary initiatives that could be informed by, or interoperable with, the NISO I2 standard.

Next phase of Moreq

The DLM Forum yesterday announced an invitation to tender for the next phase
in the development of MoReq.
This is a significant step; the intent is to produce "a more compact core of
mandatory requirements" and other important enhancements.
The ITT can be downloaded from http://moreq.info. Closing date for tenders
is 18 January 2010.

Gestern hat Serco den neuen Standard Moreq2 publiziert, nachdem er von der EU genehmigt worden ist.

Im Auftrag der Europäischen Kommission arbeiten Verbände und Industrie an erweiterten Richtlinien für ein Records-Management basierend auf Moreq2. Diese sollen 2008 veröffentlicht werden und laut ihrer Befürworter letztlich mit nationalen Alleingängen wie dem deutschen DOMEA-Konzept Schluss machen.

Offene Formatstandards in Norwegen

PDF/A kommt und wird zu ISO 32000

Unternehmen, die die Einführung eines einheitlichen Formats für die
Langzeitarchivierung planen, setzen zum Großteil auf PDF/A. Dies ist ein Ergebnis
der aktuellen Umfrage des PDF/A Competence Center. Weiterhin ergab die
Befragung von 377 IT-Entscheidern, dass das PDF/A-Format fast ebenso
bekannt ist, wie die bisherigen Archivierungsformate TIFF und PDF, und
sogar noch geläufiger als JPEG.
