Is Social Media usage waning?

According to an essay in the NYTimes (August 2012) by James B. Stewart a lot of signals show that the global network effect goes into reverse.
FB dropping, Groupon, Zynga ... and MySpace is just a shadow of its former self.

It seems that the SM hypecycle has already reached its peak.(Gartner)
Now it should restart at the workplace with internal or corporate social media (dawn of Yammer ?);
Such an assumption is quite daunted:
see: HBR blog Erickson
Why we use social media in our personal lives but not at work
http://blogs.hbr.org/erickson/2012/02/why_we_use_social_media_in_our.html

I can confirm these statements from Erickson.
Social Media is no longer optional

Forbes article:
It seems that there is an increasing conflict within enterprises between the blue corporate world with hierarchies and the orange world where people get empowered by social media networks (Josh Bernoff, Forrester).

.. pressing to marketing leader:s purchase intent is influenced more than ever by both positive and negative online reviews.

Some of this information qualifies as business records stored in these networks.
The impact of Social Networks on Records and Information Mgmt (ARMA)

Excellent paper by the ARMA International Educational Foundation
(author: Helen Streck)

The goals of this research paper are two-fold: 1) to provide the reader with the information collected
and reviewed by the researcher, and 2) to begin, in earnest, the discussion by records and information
professionals about what they can, will, and cannot do with the records and information created on,
distributed by or displayed on Social Networks.
