Next phase of Moreq

The DLM Forum yesterday announced an invitation to tender for the next phase
in the development of MoReq.
This is a significant step; the intent is to produce "a more compact core of
mandatory requirements" and other important enhancements.
The ITT can be downloaded from http://moreq.info. Closing date for tenders
is 18 January 2010.

Gestern hat Serco den neuen Standard Moreq2 publiziert, nachdem er von der EU genehmigt worden ist.

Im Auftrag der Europäischen Kommission arbeiten Verbände und Industrie an erweiterten Richtlinien für ein Records-Management basierend auf Moreq2. Diese sollen 2008 veröffentlicht werden und laut ihrer Befürworter letztlich mit nationalen Alleingängen wie dem deutschen DOMEA-Konzept Schluss machen.

Le gouvernement norvégien a décidé que toutes les informations disponibles sur ses sites Web officiels devraient être accessibles dans les formats ouverts de documents HTML, PDF ou ODF. Cela signifie la fin de l'époque où les documents officiels étaient publiés seulement dans des formats fermés.

PDF/A kommt und wird zu ISO 32000

Unternehmen, die die Einführung eines einheitlichen Formats für die
Langzeitarchivierung planen, setzen zum Großteil auf PDF/A. Dies ist ein Ergebnis
der aktuellen Umfrage des PDF/A Competence Center. Weiterhin ergab die
Befragung von 377 IT-Entscheidern, dass das PDF/A-Format fast ebenso
bekannt ist, wie die bisherigen Archivierungsformate TIFF und PDF, und
sogar noch geläufiger als JPEG.

Open Document Format (ODF) Now Published as ISO Standard

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) last month formally published the Open Document Format (ODF) as an official standard: ISO/IEC 26300:2006. ODF is an XML-based open format for a range of office files. The standard is available as a PDF or on CD for CHF 340,00 (approximately GBP143.00).

This details the findings of an AHRC funded project which
assessed the impact of ISO 15489 in the UK from 2003-2005. It
investigated which kinds of organisations had adopted the
standard, how and why and explored the extent to which
standards influence management practice and behaviour by
monitoring 50 UK organisations and investigating four case
study organisations in-depth.

toolkits' and 'A critical assessment of records management
capacity and compliance toolkits - Final Project Report'

These are a guide to four toolkits for assessing records
management capacity and/or compliance and a report of the
AHRC funded research project which evaluated the toolkits.
The toolkits are: the IGT (Information Governance Toolkit)
developed by the United Kingdom National Health Service
Information Authority; the IMCC (Information Management
Capacity Check) Tool and Methodology developed by the Library
and Archives Canada; RMCAS (Records Management Capacity
Assessment System) developed by the International Records
Management Trust; and RiskProfiler developed by ARMA
International and NetDiligence.

The Records Management Research Team is part of the
Information and Knowledge Systems Research Group at
Northumbria University's School of Computing, Engineering &
Information Sciences. Their website contains summaries,
