»Shareconomy« als Leitthema der CeBIT 2013 scheint die ECM-Branche zu einigen.
Neben Bernhard Zöller (»Büro 2020: Wie ECM-Technologien die Büroarbeit grundlegend verändern« ) wird natürlich auch Kollege Kampffmeyer zu einigen Themen sich äussern. Er sieht drei ECM-Schwerpunkte:
- Automatisierung
- Collaboration
- hybride Mobilität zwischen Cloud und On-premise

Die Einschätzung meines Kollegen Kampffmeyer, dass RM in der Schweiz
fast selbvstverständlich sei, ist natürlich etwas übertrieben.

(...) In Deutschland ist dieser Begriff wenig in Verwendung. International und auch in der Schweiz ist Records Management eine Selbstverständlichkeit, gerade im Umfeld der Erfüllung von rechtlichen und Compliance-Vorgaben."

Es gibt sicher Fortschritte und man findet immer wieder Stellenausschreibungen, die vermuten lassen, dass HR Leute mitbekommen haben, dass es inzwischen gut ausgebildete Leute gibt, die dieses Profil von den Fachhochschulen mitbringen. Andererseits gibt es auch häufig RM-Stellen-Inserate, wo immer noch "Logistiker, Betriebswirte, Orga-leute, IT-Spezis" etc. gesucht werden, als ob es keine qualifizierte Ausbildung gäbe.

Jason Baron (head of litigation oat NARA) made some interesting statements about auto-categorization and despite of its shortcomings we can no longer rely on human records declaration only, we need technology to support us, e.g. by adding special vocabularies or project related terms in order to differentiate and classify content automatically upfront (up to 80% would already be an advantage) - improving the search process is paramount.

Am 13. 9. hielt der VSA seine GV in Frauenfeld. Im Anschluss sprach Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer (project consult , Hamburg) zum Thema:
Elektronische Archivierung und elektron. Records Management. Herausforderungen, Konzepte, Rezepte

Wie gewohnt war die materialreiche Präsentation leidenschaftlich und fulminant vorgetragen, eine Performance sondergleichen mit viel Witz, Scharfsinn aber auch einer fast sarkastischen Note. Ich habe z.B. noch nie eine so trockene Materie wie Standards so spannend präsentiert bekommen.
Leider blieb nicht viel Zeit für die Diskussion, aber beim Apero konnte man noch dies und das diskutieren. Alles in allem ein Highlight!
Wir können nun wählen zwischen Ordnung & Chaos. Auch die Archivare müssen sich bewegen, auch wenn nicht alles so dramatisch wird wie dargestellt.

Information Lifecycle Governance enables defensible disposition of unnecessary data by ensuring duties and value are tightly coupled with information assets. Under the impending weight of Big Data, defensible disposition and effective disposal of records has become a crucial challenge.

As experienced information managers we know that the tenet of information governance is tying value (intangibles) and legal duty with information assets. However the recognition and awareness of business information (content not infrastructure) as a corp. asset (intellectual capital, knowledge etc.) does not go hand in hand with the investments in IT. Moreover the business often consider IT functions and related disciplines as "plumbers" only. This is slowly changing in terms of culture as also IT is selling its services withby putting the "I" into IT. Therefore Forrester has proposed since years to replace the term "IT" by the term "BI" (business information) because IT always has to serve the business which seems logic but the reality is often different, too technology oriented strategies because intangible values and information governance are harder to sell to the business than hardware and networks (IT has no instrinsic value itself).
In this context Sunil Soares has written a brilliant book:
"Selling Information Governance to the Business"

Get the book , it has a lot of case studies from practice from a broad range of industries. It will help you to make the business case.

In fact, "information governance will not succeed unless the business understands it, buys into it and supports it." (citation from the cover text)
Lookig forward to the CGOC summit. It's not about plumbing and plumbers.
Information economics has the concepts to demonstrate the value of business information and its role in making better decisions.
Hard to measure as we know - a long runner.
